Save the arctic fox Collection

The arctic fox, or fjällräven as it is called in Swedish, is one of Scandinavia’s original inhabitants. Fjällräven’s founder, Åke Nordin, was so fascinated by the arctic fox - and the way they adapted to the difficult conditions of the arctic mountains and tundra - that he named his company after them.

Seeing an arctic fox in its natural habitat is a fantastic experience, and something that we hope more people will have the chance to do. Unfortunately, the Scandinavian arctic fox is acutely endangered and there are only about 200 arctic foxes remaining in the mountains. The species has been protected since the end of the 1920s but the population has never managed to recover. The primary reasons for this include insufficient access to food and competition from the red fox which is pushing the arctic fox away from its natural habitat. Climate change, with its shorter and milder winters, also affects living conditions.

We want to see more arctic foxes in the Scandinavian mountains

Since the beginning of the 1990s, Fjällräven has been cooperating with arctic fox expert Anders Angerbjörn in a number of different arctic fox projects. Fjällräven helps spreading information, supplying equipment and donating money to research and food supplementation. Buying a product from the Save the Arctic Fox line, you can support our efforts in protecting the Arctic Fox. For every product sold, Fjällräven donates 10 or respectively 5 Euros to the Swedish Save the Arctic Fox project.
